The Unexpected Power of Simple Things
Have you ever touched an object that instantly transported you to another time or place? A familiar scent from a summer childhood, or the sound of an old song that brings back a flood of memories—these moments can be fleeting, but the emotional impact is deep. About 20 years ago, on a cold winter day, I remember receiving a princess figurine with a built-in music box from McDonald's. At the time, it was just a toy, but now, whenever I see it, the warmth of that memory rushes back. Even something as simple as a favorite blanket or an old piece of jewelry can bring a quiet comfort and a sense of nostalgia.
These objects hold deep meaning for me, connecting me to my past. Whether it's a joyful memory, a challenging time, or a peaceful afternoon, these items remind me of my journey. Though worn, faded, or imperfect, they help me remember who I was and how far I've come. Each time I hold them, I feel like I’m meeting an old version of myself—one that still exists in these objects.
The Deep Connection Between Objects and Emotion
These objects aren’t just things; they are the keepers of my memories and emotions. Whether it’s a moment of joy, a challenging period, or a quiet, solitary afternoon, these items hold the essence of those times. They bring back not just the events but the feelings—whether it's the warmth of being surrounded by loved ones or the calm of a day spent alone.
Even if they are worn, faded, or imperfect, these objects remain invaluable because they remind me of who I was, who I am, and where I’ve been. Each time I hold them, they bring comfort by recalling the moments and emotions that helped shape me.
Cherished Objects as Silent Witnesses to Our Lives
The most cherished objects in our lives often come to us by chance—whether it’s a souvenir from a trip, a gift from someone special, or something discovered in an old box. Initially, they may seem unremarkable, but over time they become symbols of the experiences and memories we’ve shared. These objects grow with us, marking the passage of time. They are more than just physical things; they are reminders of who we were and how far we’ve come.
Like well-loved toys, dolls, or familiar everyday objects, these cherished items serve as quiet companions throughout our lives. They “remember” us as we age, quietly holding onto the moments and emotions we've lived through. In a world that moves so fast, these objects remind us to slow down, appreciate the small moments, and reconnect with what truly matters. Holding them, I realize they are tangible pieces of my story.

These objects "remember" us, serving as quiet witnesses that remind us of the continuity of our lives. I hope this newsletter becomes a space where we can share stories about these meaningful objects. In a world full of change, may we continue to find peace and comfort in the simple, yet special, things that truly matter.
In the next letter, I’d love to share the story of my brand, Stolleen, and the unique charm of the dolls we create. See you again soon. 😊
